SBT GRVL® 2025 Recap: Racing, Community, and Big Wins on Colorado’s Gravel Roads

This past weekend, Steamboat Springs played host to one of the most anticipated gravel races in the country — the 2025 SBT GRVL® presented by Wahoo — and it did not disappoint.

With registration and event management powered by BikeReg, more than 2,500 riders took on fast, flowy mountain gravel across a two-day format featuring elite competition, amateur racing, and a celebration of all things gravel cycling.

On Sunday, riders competed on a new 79-mile and 117-mile Black Course that started and finished in Hayden, CO, just west of Steamboat. Brennan Wertz (Scott – Skipstone) and Melisa Rollins (Liv Racing Collective) powered their way to solo victories in the men’s and women’s elite races, finishing in 4:56:19 and 5:36:55 respectively.

This year also marked the debut of the GRVL® Femmes Team Challenge, a team-based racing format created to elevate women’s participation in gravel. The inaugural challenge helped drive over 32% female participation in Sunday’s race — a standout milestone in the event’s ongoing efforts to build a more inclusive race experience for all athletes.

“We were thrilled to see our participants, brand partners and our community embrace the events both in downtown Steamboat and Dry Creek Park in Hayden,” said Amy Charity, founding partner and CEO of SBT GRVL®. “It’s a testament to the stunning riding in Routt County, the challenging, fun, and inclusive nature of the event that’s both a ride, race, and festival to celebrate gravel cycling on the greatest gravel roads on earth.”

Behind the scenes, BikeReg supported the event’s seamless registration experience, from managing pre-race signups and team coordination to ensuring a smooth race-day process. This partnership allowed the SBT GRVL team to focus on what they do best — delivering a world-class event that riders return to year after year.
