Extend your event’s reach: iconic brands working together, uniquely positioned to help you grow.
Get your event discovered by the athletes most likely to sign up. As an athleteReg or FinisherPix client, you can have your event featured on one of Outside’s iconic media brands: Velo, Pinkbike, Triathlete, Outside Run, Trail Runner, Women’s Running, or Ski. Your article is published as a custom partner content page that tells your event’s story to riders and runners searching for their next event. Here’s how to submit.
What we publish
- Event promotion articles: published before your event to build excitement and drive registration, featuring your registration link as a call to action.
- Event recap articles: published shortly after your event, featuring results, top finishers, highlights, and photos from the day.
How it works
- Submit your complete article and photos through the form below.
- We do a light copy edit; your voice stays intact.
- You review a preview link and get one round of revisions.
- We publish on the site that best fits your event’s sport and audience.
- We share your article through athleteReg/FinisherPix email newsletters and social channels, and send you tracked links to post to your own audience.
Timing
- Promotion articles: submit at least two weeks before your desired publish date. If anything is embargoed, tell us clearly.
- Recap articles: submit within one week of your event, with final results, so the story is fresh when it publishes.
Editorial guidelines
Submissions must be complete, publish-ready editorial pieces, not raw materials for us to assemble. Our story on the Ocean City Running Festival is an example: an immersive story with quotes and links woven into the narrative and a clear registration call to action.
- Write a story, not an ad. Put the reader in the moment: the destination, what to expect, the course, the finish party.
- Cover who/what/when/where/why. Promotion articles should include registration info, dates, and location. Recaps should include results, winners, and standout moments.
- Minimum three paragraphs of body copy, with notes on where images should be placed and links embedded in the copy where they belong (include the URL for every link).
- Quotes from participants, winners, or the race director should be woven into the narrative, not listed separately.
- Photos are required. Horizontal orientation, high resolution. No borders, no obtrusive watermarks.
- Every photo needs a credit. If a photographer shot the images, tell us the credit line and confirm you have permission to use the photos.
Your submission checklist
- Header image: JPEG, high resolution, horizontal orientation.
- Headline: the title of your story, written like a magazine feature. Specific and vivid beats big claims: “Sunrise at Mile One: Racing Ocean City’s Beachfront Marathon” draws readers in, while superlatives and exclamation points get flagged.
- Sub-head: one line teasing your event’s most unique feature.
- Body copy: your full story, with image placements noted and links embedded.
- Supporting images: JPEG, high resolution, horizontal orientation.
- Photo credit and captions for the header and supporting images.
